The 1976-77 wrestling season was a huge success as the Buccaneers compiled an overall record of 23-17 for a 58% winning percentage as a team. The Buccaneers finished second in the Northwestern Invitational and the Covington Invitational and sixth in the Three Rivers Conference Championships.

Leading the way for the Buccaneers individually was senior Art Stephan, who compiled the best record on the team and was named the Most Valuable Wrestler. He finished his career with the most career wins in program history (43) and most team points in a career with 226. Stephan was also named All TRC.

Randy Kimmel and Scott Herron also put together good seasons as they were named Most Improved by the coaches and Dan Batdorf earned the Coaches Award.

The Buccaneers lose three seniors to graduation – Art Stephan, Joe Lauber and Dan Batdorf, but with the success they had this season and the talent returning, the future is extremely bright.
