The 1997-98 season was a very interesting year for the Buccaneer wrestling team due to the fact that only one senior was on the roster. However, the Buccaneers were able to accomplish many goals – highlighted by sending Scot Fetters and Brian Swinehart to state to become the 19th and 20th wrestlers to qualify for state in the history of the program.

The Buccaneers placed second in four tournaments, including the CCC. Eight wrestlers qualified for the District Tournament and three placed. Scot Fetters finished second, Brian Swinehart third and Marty Finfrock finished fourth – coming just short of reaching state.

Overall the Buccaneers accumulated a 20-12 record in dual meets, a 53-19 record in tournaments and an overall record of 73-31 for a 70% winning percentage.

With the talent returning next season, the expectations are extremely high for another great season of Buccaneer wrestling.
