1987-88 COVINGTON BUCCANEERS
The 1987-88 wrestling team recorded a 12-13-1 dual meet record and a record of 30-29 in tournaments for an overall record of 42-42-1. Seniors Tony Iddings (160 lbs.) and Tim Fitzpatrick (171 lbs.) claimed sectional titles for the Buccs, but for the first time since 1977 Covington failed to send a wrestler to the state meet.
Seven seniors will be lost to graduation; Ray Kimmel, Tony Iddings, Mike Reed, Dave White. Kneeling (L-R) – Tim Fitzpatrick, L.G. Henry and 1986 state qualifier Keith Musgrave. Ray Kimmel is the lone four-year letterman and was chosen by the coaches as the Most Improved Wrestler. Tony Iddings was named Most Valuable Wrestler, while Tim Fitzpatrick and junior Randy Sowers were presented the Coach’s Award.
