Covington HS Wrestling – Versailles Dual Meet Invitational

Covington competed at the Versailles Dual Meet Invitational on Saturday, going 4-1 as a team, and finishing in 2nd place out of 10 teams. The Buccs defeated Tri-County North, 66-18, Milton-Union, 48-36, Reading, 42-39, and defeated the combined tournament team made from extras of all teams, 60-18. Covington then dropped a 48-30 dual to Versailles in the championship dual.
Going 5-0 for Covington were Carson Taylor (106 lbs, 1 pin), Michael Hagan (120, 4 pins), Jericho Quinter (126, 4 pins) and Caleb Ryman (132, 1 pin). Brian Morrison (113, 1 pin), Chase Vanderhorst (138, 3 pins) and A.J. Reyes (285) each finished 4-1. Also winning matches for the Buccs were Andrew Basye (126, 1 pin), Jack Blumenstock (150, 1 pin), Luke Brown (144), Kaden Thompson (150), Mason Epperson (157), Aiden Collins (175), A.J. Garman (190) and Zeb Woodward-Roeth (1 pin).
Covington hosts Sidney and Springfield in a tri meet this Tuesday, Dec. 20, for their senior night event at 6 pm.
Covington JH Wrestling – Sidney Invitational

Covington’s Jr. High wrestling team put in an outstanding performance at the Sidney Invitational on Saturday, taking 3rd place overall out of 15 teams. The Buccs finished with eight top-6 placers at the event.
Brody Taylor led the way by winning the 80 lb. championship with a pin over Brent Heuing of Coldwater. Taylor finished 4-0 with 4 pins. Isaiah Mumford (98, 2 pins), Henry Skaggs (110, 3 pins) and Liam Geeding (116, 2 pins) all finished as tournament runners-up.
Landon Beeman (128, 4 pins) finished in 3rd place, Jonny Miller (104, 3 pins) finished in 4th place, while both Trent Reynolds (134, 3 pins) and Lucas Lester (160, 2 pins) both placed 5th overall. Also competing well for the Buccs were Andy Alexander (122, 1 pin), Eddie Deaton (92) and Talon Pergram (150).
Covington Jr. High joins the high school to host a tri meet with Sidney and Springfield on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 6 pm.
