Covington had three champions and finished in third place out of thirteen teams at the Troy Invitational, behind Coldwater and Northmont. The Buccs had 15 top-8 place winners overall.
Ryan Ford (138), Lance Miller (160) and Brandon Magee (182) all brought home titles for Covington. Ford went 5-0 with 3 pins and 2 technical falls.
Miller also finished 5-0, with 4 pins and a victory by decision in the finals. Magee dropped one match in his pool, but won the next two to make the top four bracket, where he won his semifinal and finals bouts. He finished 4-1 with one pin.
Jared Ford (126) finished in second place after dropping a decision in the finals. He finished 4-1 overall with 2 pins and a technical fall.
Connor Ryan (113, 3 pins) and Coleman Ryan (120, 2 pins) each finished third overall.
Gage DeHart (152, 2 pins) placed 4th, while Keringten Martin (132, 2 pins), Deron White (152, 4 pins), Joey Schmelzer (170, 3 pins) and Carl Lankford (285, 2 pins) placed 5th.
Riley Richards (126, pin) and Seth Thomas (220, 2 pins) placed 7th, while Ross Bowman (160, pin) and Ian Wilson (170, pin) placed 8th.
Also competing for the Buccs were Parker Dysinger (132), Branden Robinson (145, pin), Gavin McReynolds (160, pin), Bryce Keiser (220) and Luke Grieshop (285).
Covington travels to Miami East on Wednesday, January 6, in a meet with the Vikings, Troy and Southeastern.
