THE BUCCS FINISH SIXTH IN COLDWATER INVITATIONAL

COLDWATER – Despite being without three starting wrestlers, Covington put in a nice performance at the Coldwater Invitational, finishing in 6th place out of 20 schools.  The Buccs had 6 of their 10 competing wrestlers place at the event. 

Caleb Ryman led the way for Covington by winning the 150 lb. weight class after building a 9-0 lead over Ben Logan’s Kendall Plikerd, before his opponent defaulted the match. Ryman finished with a 6-0 record with 2 pins on the day.

Brody Taylor finished in 3rd place at 106 lbs. with an 18-5 major decision over Dajon Fields of Bowling Green. Taylor finished 4-1 overall with 3 pins.

Aveyen Meek (175 lbs.) also finished in 3rd place with a 15-4 major decision over Bethel’s Aslan Akhmedov. Meek finished with a 5-1 record with four pins.

Henry Skaggs took 4th place at 126 lbs. with a 2-2 record and 2 pins, while Christian Clark placed 5th at 120 lbs. finishing 3-2 overall with 2 pins, and Jonny Miller (138 lbs.) finished in 8th place with 2 pins.

Also competing hard and winning matches for the Buccs were Isaiah Mumford (132, 2 pins), Liam Geeding (144, 1 pin), Kaden Thompson (165, 2 pins) and Trentin Havenar (215, 2 pins).

Covington also had a number of wrestlers compete at the Versailles JV Invitational and finished with three placewinners.

Lucas Lester (175 lbs.) finished in 2nd place with a 4-1 record with 4 pins, while Landon Beeman (165) placed 3rd with a 3-1 record and a pin, and Diego Lopez (165) finished in 4th place with a 3-2 record with 3 pins. Gibson Leach (157) also picked up 2 pins at the meet.

Covington competes next at the Versailles Duals tournament on Saturday, December 21, while some wrestlers will also go to the Butler JV pools on Tuesday, December 17.

Covington Jr. High vs. Tippecanoe, Northmont

Covington Jr. High travelled to Tippecanoe to compete in duals with the host Red Devils along with Northmont. Covington finished 1-1 on the day, defeating Northmont, 39-15, while dropping a 58-22 dual to Tippecanoe.

Going 2-0 for the Buccs were Mason Ouellette (86 lbs., 2 pins), Gavin Brown (122, 2 pins), Weston Roth (134, pin), Grayson Feight (142, 2 pins) and Cooper Turner (142, 2 pins). Also, Alex Salinas (110 pin) finished 1-0.

Blake Lucas (104, pin), Briggs Lucas (110), Jake Basye (150, pin) and Haydan Wintrow (245, pin) each finished 1-1. Also wrestling hard for the Buccs were Wyatt Kerber (116), Brawley Sides (122) and Chloe Aselage (128).
