Covington got off to a fast start at the Northeastern Invitational on Friday night, winning each of their first three duals to start their season 3-0. The Buccs first defeated Northeastern, 78-6, then beat Springfield Shawnee, 60-21, before finishing with a 75-6 victory over Triad. Covington was also able to get their extra wrestlers competing in open weight classes on other teams.
Going 3-0 for the Buccs were Dalton Bishop (106), Devin Newhouse (106, 1 pin), Brian Morrison (113), Kellan Anderson (120, pin), Aaron Jackson (126, 2 pins), Cael Vanderhorst (132, 3 pins), Austin Flick (138, 2 pins), Connor Sindelir (145, 1 pin). Deacon Shields (152, 2 pins), David Robinson (152, 2 pins), Trentin Alexander (170, 2 pins) and Dylan Staudt (220, 2 pins).
Finishing the evening with a 2-1 record were Caleb Miller (145, 2 pins), Bryce Smith (160, 1 pin), Duncan Cooper (182, 2 pins), Jensen Wagoner (182, 1 pin) and Jesse Fisher (285, 1 pin)
Also competing well for the Buccs were Tanner Garrett (126), Kaden Hughes (145), Trey Kiser (152), Corey Turner (195), Adam Brewer (220) and Ricky Stephan (220).

Covington brought home the first place trophy at the 8-team Northeastern Invitational, with a 7-0 overall record this weekend. The team picked up four additional dual meet victories on Saturday. The Buccs opened the day with a 78-6 victory over Hillsboro, followed by a 59-15 victory over Beavercreek B. Covington then defeated Urbana, 66-15, before closing the day with a 78-6 victory over Waynesville.
The Buccs had six individual wrestlers finish in first place. Going 7-0 overall were Dalton Bishop (106 lbs, 2 pins), Kellan Anderson (120, 4 pins), Cael Vanderhorst (132, 6 pins), Austin Flick (138, 3 pins), Connor Sindelir (145, 3 pins) and Deacon Shields (152, 6 pins).
Taking second place for Covington were David Robinson (152, 6-0, 6 pins), Brian Morrison (113, 6-1), Aaron Jackson (126, 6-1, 2 pins), Trentin Alexander (170, 6-1, 2 pins), Dylan Staudt (220, 6-1, 3 pins) and Jesse Fisher (285, 6-1, 2 pins).
