COLDWATER – Covington put in an outstanding performance at the Coldwater Invitational, taking 4th place out 22 teams, with just seven wrestlers competing. Each Covington wrestler placed in the top-eight of their weight class, with three finishing as tournament champions.
Jericho Quinter won the 126 lb. title with a pin over state placer Corbin Kimmel of Wayne Trace. Quinter finished 6-0 on the day with 5 pins.
Michael Hagan won the 132 lb. title with a pin over Owen Weaks of Ben Logan. Hagan also went 6-0 on the day, getting a victory by pin in each match.
Caleb Ryman took first place in the 144 lb. weight class with a 12-9 victory over Slayde Merriman of West-Liberty Salem. Ryman finished with a 5-0 record with 2 pins.
Carson Taylor advanced to the finals, but dropped an 8-2 decision to state placer Matthew Baylor of Milan, Indiana. Taylor finished with a 4-1 record with 3 pins.
Aveyen Meek (165 lbs) finished in 4th place overall with a 3-2 record with 3 pins, while Jack Blumenstock (157) placed 7th with a 3-1 record with 2 pins, and Henry Skaggs (120) placed 8th with a 3-3 record with 3 pins.
Covington travels to Springfield on Wednesday, December 20 in a tri-meet with Sidney.

Christian Clark (126) placed 3rd with 4 pins, Diego Lopez (150) placed 3rd with 2 pins, Jonny Miller (120) placed 4th with 2 pins, Liam Geeding (132) placed 4th with 3 pins, Landon Beeman (144) placed 4th with 3 pins, Kaden Thompson (165) placed 5th with 1 pin, and Lucas Lester (165) placed 6th with 1 pin.

Covington placed 6th out of 13 teams at the Sidney Jr. High Invitational on Saturday.
Brody Taylor took 1st place at 92 lbs. with a 6-0 record and 5 pins, while Isaiah Mumford took 1st place at 116 lbs. with a 6-0 record and 5 pins. Weston Roth (122) placed 3rd with a 4-1 record and 3 pins.
Taking 4th place were Cooper Turner (128, 2 pins) and Wyatt Kerber (98, 2 pins). Taking 6th place were Kolson Petty (80 lbs, pin), Colton Townsend (122, pin), Gibson Leach (142, 3 pins) and Ryan Brown (172, pin). Landyn Carnes (92, 2 pins), Matt Schneider (134, 2 pins) and Haydan Wintrow (205) also wrestled well for the Buccs.
