VERSAILLES – Covington traveled to Versailles Saturday and competed in five duals during the day where junior standout Caleb Ryman captured his 100th career victory.
The Buccs were missing 7 wrestlers due to illness and finished with a 1-4 record. Despite this, the team was competitive and was only one individual win away from getting victories in three of their losses. The Buccs defeated Milton-Union, 40-34, and lost to Brookville, 39-42, Waynesville, 35-42, St. Marys, 32-42, and Versailles, 11-70.
Caleb Ryman (150 lbs.) picked up his 100th career win during the day, on his way to a 5-0 record with 2 pins. Aveyen Meek (175) picked up 2 pins on his way to a 4-1 record, while Trenton Havenar (215) picked up 1 pin on his way to a 4-1 record. Finishing 3-2 for Covington were Henry Skaggs (126, 2 pins) and Isaiah Mumford (132, 2 pins). Also winning matches for the Buccs were Brody Taylor (106), Eddie Deaton (113, 1 pin), Christian Clark (120, 1 pin), Jonny Miller (138), Liam Geeding (144) and Jack Blumenstock (157).
The Buccs compete next at the 61-team Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association (GMVWA) Holiday tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 27-28.
Covington MVKWA Youth Wrestling Meet at Tipp City

Covington travelled to Tipp City for a Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association (MVKWA) meet on Sunday. The event included Bethel, Lima Bath, Miami East, Milton-Union, Troy, Versailles and host Tipp City.
Taking first place for the Buccs were Brayden Feight, Ethan Owens (pin), Braden Hole (pin), Blakelee Silvers (2 pins) and Lyam Davis.
Finishing second were Braydon Barnett (pin), Oliver Ouellette (pin), Joe Evans (pin), Emmett Clark (pin) and Everett McCord (2 pins).
Taking third place at the event were Dalton Brown, Ayden Cheatle, Noah Detrick, Emmit Everett (pin), Jason Richmond (pin), Olivia Brown, Lydia Koogler, Holden Miller, while Harvey Snyder, Carter Roth, Oliver Von Aschen and Grayson Sowers finished in fourth place.
Each of the kids gained valuable experience and represented Covington well. The Buccs travel to the Greenville Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 5.
