Covington went 4-1 on the day, finishing in second place to Versailles in the six-team Western Ohio Challenge.
In the first round, the Buccs defeated a combined Lehman/Versailles B team, 54-15. Picking up pins for Covington were Mitchell Herron (119), Bobby Wiltshire (135), Brian Ely (171), Logan Brown (189) and C.J. Potter (215). The Buccs faced National Trail in the second round and came away with a 60-6 victory. Earning falls were Mitchell Herron (119), Justin Owens (152), Logan Brown (189) and C.J. Potter (215).
In the third round, Covington defeated Dayton Christian by a score of 51-18. Michael Corkhum (103), Ryan White (130) and Logan Brown (189) all won by pin. The Buccs then went on to defeat Troy Christian, 49-11, with C.J. Potter (215) picking up the lone pin. In the championship round, Covington fell to a strong Versailles team, 68-8.
Logan Brown (189) went 5-0 on the day with 3 pins. Going 4-1 were Bobby Wiltshire (135, 1 pin), Ben Adams (140), Justin Owens (152, 1 pin), Brian Ely (171, 1 pin) and C.J. Potter (215, 3 pins). Finishing 3-2 were Michael Corkhum (103, 1 pin), Mitchell Herron (119, 2 pins) and Ezra Mohler (275).
Covington will host the sectional wrestling tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14. Wrestling begins Friday at 5 pm. Finals are set for 6:30 pm on Saturday.
