Jordan Tebbe

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2005
Six of Covington’s eleven starting wrestlers placed in the top four of the abbreviated Ben Logan Invitational leading the Buccs to a fourth place finish. Weather forced the original tournament to be made up on a weeknight which reduced the field of teams to seven. Ben Logan won the tournament with 252 points followed by Carrollton (199), Northwestern (160), Covington (143), Northeastern (137), Bellefontaine (105) and Versailles B (95.5).

In all, the Buccs crowned three tournament champions. Jordan Tebbe (112 lbs.) pinned Northeastern’s Kyle Ambuehl in the finals to win his first tournament of the season. Also taking home his first gold medal was Justin McMillion (135 lbs.) as he won the title with a 19-10 major decision over Jake Parrett of Northwestern. Logan Brown (189 lbs.) brought home the Bucc’s third individuall title with a 6-2 decision over Ben Logan’s Morgan Longshore.

Also reaching the finals, but finishing in second were Brian Ely (171 lbs.) and C.J. Potter (275 lbs.). Ely dropped a tough 15-5 decision to Ben Logan’s Cody Vanbuskirk who is ranked third in the state in Division 2. Potter fell by pin to Carrollton’s Terry Snyder in the last bout of the evening.

Also placing for the Buccs were Ryan Vanderhorst (152 lbs.) with a fourth-place finish, Bobby Wiltshire (140 lbs.) and Logan Hall (145 lbs.), both finishing in fifth place, and Jake Wise (215 lbs.) in sixth.

The Buccs will be hosting Dayton Christian and Twin Valley South for a home tri meet this Friday, Feb. 4., starting at 6 pm.
