The Covington wrestling team traveled to Coldwater on Thursday to participate in a tri meet with the host Cavaliers and Sidney-Lehman. The Buccs defeated Lehman, 63-0, but fell to Coldwater, 52-23.

Facing a small Lehman squad, Kyler Deeter (138) picked up a pin over Joseph Fuller, while Ben Miller (160) earned a 10-6 decision over Skylar Brown.

Earning forfeits for the Buccs were Matt Carder (120), Bryton Lear (126), Brock Smith (132), Jake Sowers (145), Cole Smith (152), A.J. Ouellette (170), Brian Oson (182), Justin Daniel (195) and Jordan Wolfe (285).

Covington began the dual with Coldwater already in an 18-0 deficit due to three forfeits, but managed to win just four of the eleven matches wrestled against the host Cavaliers.

Winning their bouts against Coldwater were Kyler Deeter (138, pin), Jake Sowers (145, technical fall), Ben Miller (160, pin) and Brian Olson (160, pin).

Covington’s varsity competes next at the Lima Central Catholic Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, while the reserve team competes at the Sidney JV Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Freshman Ben Miller picked up two wins on the night against Lehman and Coldwater.
