Covington hosted double duals with Milton-Union, Lehman and Arcanum on Monday and both the high school and jr. high teams finished 2-0 on the evening.

In the high school duals, Covington opened with a 78-0 victory over Lehman, while Milton-Union defeated Arcanum, 47-18. The Buccs then defeated the Bulldogs, 72-11, while Arcanum beat Lehman, 30-12. Covington improved their dual meet record to 17-2 with the victories.

Eleven Covington wrestlers went 2-0, including Connor Ryan (113 lbs, pin), Jared Ford (120, pin), Jarred Ganger (132, 2 pins), Ryan Ford (138, pin), Deron White (145, 2 pins), Lance Miller (152, pin), Gage DeHart (160, pin), Brandon Magee (170, pin), Ben Miller (195, pin), Seth Thomas (220) and Ian Fries (285). Alexis Roth (106) finished 2-1, while Coleman Ryan (126) went 1-1.

In the jr. high duals, Covington defeated Lehman, 48-12, while Milton-Union beat Arcanum, 42-6. Covington then won their final dual over Milton-Union, 42-24 With the wins, Covington’s Jr. High improved their dual meet record to 5-2.

Nine Covington wrestlers went undefeated including Dolan Young (80 lbs, 3-0, 2 pins), Chris Triplett (92, 2-0, pin), Dominic Gibson (110, 1-0), Austin Flick (110, 1-0, pin), Riley Richards (116, 2-0), Keringten Martin (128, 3-0, pin), Joseph Franke (150, 1-0), Cade Schmelzer (150, 2-0, pin) and Ian Wilson (160, 2-0). Gavin McReynolds (134) and Gage Kerrigan (142, pin) both finished 1-1, while Colton Francis (122) also competed well for the Buccs.

The high school team hosts two outstanding dual meet teams in Eaton and Coldwater at home on Thursday, January 22, at 6 pm.

Ben Logan JV Invitational

Covington finished in second place out of fifteen teams at the Ben Logan JV invitational on Saturday. Eaton won the tournament.

Brandon Magee (170), Seth Thomas (220) and Ian Fries (285) each won the tournament. Magee went 5-0 with 4 pins, Thomas when 5-0 with 4 pins and Fries finished 3-0 with 2 pins.

Deron White (145) and Logan Fields (152) each took third place. White went 4-1 with 3 pins, while Fields finished 4-1 with 4 pins. Joey Schmelzer (138) took 4th place with a 3-2 record and 2 pins, while Josh Sowers (145, 3-2, pin) and Ross Bowman (160, 2-2, 2 pins) both placed 5th. Mark Barga (138) and Carl Lankford (285) also competed well for the Buccs.
