2017-18: Buccs Sweep Duals

Ben Logan Double Dual: Thursday, January 11, 2018
Covington’s high school wrestling team picked up a pair of dual meet victories on Thursday night to improve their record to 13-4 on the season. The Buccs defeated Fairbanks, 45-25, then beat host Ben Logan, 52-25.

Going 2-0 for the Buccs were Kellan Anderson (106, pin), Cael Vanderhorst (113), David Robinson (126, pin), Trentin Alexander (160, pin), Gavin McReynolds (182, 2 pins) and Joseph Franke (195, 2 pins).

Going 1-0 were Kyle Barga (132) and Seth Iddings (160, pin). Taylen Viney (120), Deacon Shields (145) and Fletcher Metz (152, pin) each finished 1-1.

Clayton Stephan (285, pin) finished 2-1 while Bryce Smith (138), Hunter Clarkson (170) and Bryce Keiser (285) also competed well for the Buccs.

Double Dual at Coldwater: Thursday, January 18, 2018
Covington travelled to Coldwater on Thursday for a double dual, but ended up not facing the Cavaliers since the two teams are likely to face each other in the OHSAA dual meet tournament next Wednesday at Versailles.

Instead the Buccs faced Milton-Union and Lima Senior, defeating the Bulldogs, 52-24, and the Spartans, 72-3, to improve their dual meet record to 15-4 overall.

Going 2-0 for the Buccs were Kellan Anderson (106, pin), Cael Vanderhorst (113), Riley Richards (126, pin), Austin Flick (138, 2 pins), Trentin Alexander (160, 2 pins), Gavin McReynolds (182), Gage Kerrigan (195, pin) and Joseph Franke (220, pin).

Going 1-0 were Fletcher Metz (145), Clayton Stephan (285) and Bryce Keiser (285, pin).

Finishing 1-1 were Taylen Viney (120), David Robinson (132), Keringten Martin (152) and Hunter Clarkson (170, pin).

Covington’s reserve team travels to Sidney on Saturday for their JV tournament.
