The Covington wrestling team capped the 2021-22 dual season with a convincing 66-17 win over Ben Logan on Thursday.
Covington competed in a dual with Ben Logan on Thursday, defeating the Raiders, 66-17, to conclude their regular season with a 10-3 overall record. The Buccs also finished with a regular-season tournament record of 178-12.
Jensen Wagoner (190) got things going with a pin over district qualifier Connor Whitt, before Hayden Barker (215) lost by technical fall to Matt Creamer. Scott Blumenstock (285) then earned a pin over Mason Flint, before Carson Taylor (106) pinned Charles Neer.
Jericho Quinter (113) then pinned Landon Zehner, followed by Michael Hagan’s (120) pin over Dylan Sweeney. Chase Vanderhorst (126) kept things going with a pin over Evan Carpenter, before Jack Blumenstock (138) pinned Collin Hill. Aveyen Meek (144) then fell to Kendall Plikered. Kaden Thompson (132), Luke Brown (150), Caleb Miller (157) and A.J. Garman (175) picked up forfeits for the Buccs, while Matt Beikman (165) earned a forfeit for Ben Logan.
In Jr. High action, Covington fell to Ben Logan to finish their season with a 7-5 dual meet record. Caleb Ryman had the biggest win with a 15-5 major decision over Ethan Carpenter. Caleb also qualified for Jr. High State with a 3rd place finish at the Harrison Jr. High district on Sunday.
