2016-17: BUCCS OPEN NEW GYM WITH DUAL WIN

Covington hosted Preble Shawnee in a dual on Wednesday night and the Buccs came away with a 48-24 victory to improve their dual meet record to 9-1 this season. After trading forfeits by Preble Shawnee’s Rylan Roberts (106 lbs) and Covington’s Dolan Young (113), the teams engaged in two back-and-forth battles. Preble Shawnee emerged victorious in both and took a 12-6 lead as Kyle Barga (120) dropped an 11-7 decision to Kage Worley, and Riley Richards (126) dropped a close 8-7 decision to state qualifier Camron Neal.

Covington’s Austin Flick (132) and Keringten Martin (138) returned the lead to the Buccs, 15-12, with a 9-8 decision over Travis Tatum and a pin over Cayne Grimme, respectively. The Buccs would then reel off six more consecutive victories to seal the victory. Josh Sowers (145) pinned Logan Duncan, while Parker Dysinger (152) earned a forfeit.

Lance Miller (160) pinned Kanyon Schall before Gage DeHart (170) and Ian Wilson (182) picked up forfeits for the Buccs. Gavin McReynolds (195) then earned a solid 8-1 decision over Jordan Stubbs, despite giving up over 20 lbs. of weight. Preble Shawnee would pick up the final two wins by pin as Tanner Crabtree (220) pinned Bryce Keiser and Ty Stevenson (285) pinned Luke Grieshop.

The Buccs wrestle next at the Versailles Invitational on Saturday, December 17.
