Covington finished in 3rd place out of 14 teams at the Troy Invitational on Saturday. The Buccs finished with three individual champions and twelve total placers. Northmont won the tournament, followed by Wayne.
Kellan Anderson won the 126 lb. title with a 19-4 technical fall victory over Miami East’s Garrett Kowalak. Anderson went 5-0 on the day with 3 pins.
Austin Flick won the 138 lb. title with a pin over Arcanum’s Cameron Haney. Flick finished 5-0 with 4 pins at the tournament.
Duncan Cooper won a back-and-forth championship match at 182 lbs. by pinning Greenville’s Titan Grote. Cooper went 5-0 with 5 pins overall.
Cael Vanderhorst dropped a 6-3 decision to returning state runner-up Max Shore of Miami East in a battle of returning state placers in the 120 lb. championship to take second place. Vanderhorst went 3-1 with 2 pins.
David Robinson (152), Jensen Wagoner and Trentin Alexander (170) each finished in 4th place. Robinson won 3 matches with 2 pins, Wagoner won 3 matches with 3 pins, and Alexander won 3 matches with 2 pins.
Brian Morrison (113), Aaron Jackson (126, 2 pins), Caleb Miller (145, pin), Deacon Shields (152, 3 pins) and Jesse Fisher (220, 2 pins) each placed 6th. Connor Sindelir (145, 2 pins), Corey Turner (195, pin) and Dylan Staudt (220, pin) also earned pins for the Buccs.
